Novelties for the 1994 Porsche Model Year: New 911 Carrera and 968 CS with rear seats
The new 911 Carrera, which will be introduced to the market in its Coupé version in October (details in a special press kit), is the centerpiece of the 1994 Porsche model range. Other Porsche sports car models undergo various modifications to meet customer wishes while also creating additional attractions. The 911 Speedster, 911 Turbo, 3.6, the 911 Carrera 2 Cabrio as well as the 911 Carrera 4 Anniversary Model, all four based on the previous Porsche 911 remain in the program until the end of 1993.
New colors, inside and out
Two new single colors and two new metallic colors are available for all three Porsche ranges (911, 968, 928), with the start of the 1994 model year. Gleaming riviera blue as well as elegant amaranth violet are available at no extra cost. These colors are exclusive special options for the 911 Speedster, Turbo, Cabrio and Carrera 4 models available up to the end of 1993.
The colors iris blue as well as aventurine green are new to the program of metallic colors, offered as special options. Viola metallic remains an exclusive paint for the Carrera 4 Anniversary Model, as before.
Porsche has also set new color accents for the interior. Interior trim can be ordered for the new 911 Carrera as well as the 928 and 968 (except for 968 CS) in two new, coordinated tones. The combinations of marble gray with black or midnight blue is suggested as well as provence blue with black or midnight blue when a special leather interior is chosen. The new interior colors chest- nut brown, as well as cedar green and flamenco red for special leather expand this palette.
Latest audio equipment and particle filter
Porsche now fulfills requests for a radio with cassette player in all models with the Blaupunkt Bremen (except for the 968 CS: Blaupunkt Paris). The Bremen model includes the latest technology, while a Key Card improves anti-theft protection.
In cooperation with its partner Axicon, Porsche offers D-Net telephone provisions for the 1994 model range. This package can be delivered through Porsche dealers and includes the complete wiring loom, antenna and hands-off unit.
In the 968 and 928 model ranges as well as the new 911 Cabrio the heater/ventilation system now includes a standard, integrated particle filter. This brings notable relief, especially for those with allergies, since the filter unit holds back pollen and other particles, clearly improving air quality in the car's interior.
Fittings package for the Porsche 968
The 968 model range enters the 1994 season with a new Porsche idea tailored to its customers. Rational fittings packages were put together, based on known customer wishes, which provide the buyer with options at a price advantage over individual orders. These package offerings will continue to be oriented to customer desires, embracing further ideas as needed.
The "seating" package includes leather seats with seat heaters left and right as well as optional, fully-electric seat adjustment left and right. The special chassis" package includes the sporting chassis, 17 inch wheels of a new design and an improved brake system with cross-bored brake discs. The sound package includes an additional booster as well as enclosed loudspea ker boxes in the rear for the Cabrio.
968 CS available with rear seats as well
The 968 CS (Club Sport), a sporting variant of the 968 model, only offered previously as a two-seater, will now be available with an optional rear-seat unit. The bucket seats otherwise fitted to the Club Sport will be replaced in this case by basic seats with folding backs. At the same time, the permitted total weight of the vehicle increases by 70 kilograms, to 1640 Kg. The 17 inch wheels, a standard fitting, come in a new design.
Fittings packages are also available for the 968 CS in the new model year. The sports packages of stronger brakes with cross-bored brake discs as well as stiffer springs and shock absorbers now comes with a limited-slip differential too. The safety package includes central locking, alarm system and locking wheel nuts. The comfort package, finaly, consists of electric adjustment for the outside mirrors as well as electric window lifts.
Sporty automatic shifting for the Porsche 928
"Dynamic kick-down" will be introduced to the automatic version of the eight-cylinder Porsche 928 GTS as of the 1994 mode year. This means: stepping down hard on the throttle pedal is not the only way to cause downshifts. Every rapid throttle pedal movement will cause a downshift, or upshift only at higher revolutions. This means more comfort when using a dynamic driving style. Classic kick-down shift possibilities naturally remain.
