Quite unexpectedly, in August 1978, a brand new prototype appeared at the start of the B6 up to 2000 cc at the international race in Most. The white coupe was listed in the program as Škoda 130 RS A5 and had the internal designation type 738. The car was the work of employees of the Research and Development Department of AZNP Mladá Boleslav and was to be primarily a mobile laboratory

It was powered by the 1800cc S 720 engine. Two years later she was fitted with the S 760 16 valves engine. It completed only two races with Jaroslav Bobek and Oldřich Horsák at the steering wheel and was used later for testing driving units and aerodynamics at Hoškovice airport.

With the large rear spoiler and the body that widens towards the rear, the engineers were able to achieve greater downforce and thus more stable handling at higher speeds. This was not an unnecessary luxury, as the aerodynamic prototype reached a top speed of 250 km/h. The 140 kW / 190 hp four-cylinder engine was supplied with fresh air via large air intakes.
