2003: Porsche Carrera GT World Debut
PORSCHE® WERKFOTO 2001: Porsche'Carrera' GT Prototype
Sets New supercar standards
The Porsche Carrera GT, a prototype of a mid-engine supercar, is based on pure racing technology, including a carbon-fiber chassis, double-wishbone suspension and V-10 engine. Its 5.S-liter V-10 - which is all new and not related to current Porsche production car engines - produces 558 horsepower and 442ìb.-ft. of peak torque, sufficient to rocket the Carrera GT from 0-60 mph in under four seconds and to a top track speed over 205 mph.
"Ground effect" aerodynamic design literally pulls the car to the road for high-speed stability. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCBTM) system with 15-inch discs provides stopping power. The instrument panel uses an LCD screen to disptay information. The carrera GT could enter limited production within 3 years.
