Porsche 944 Turbo

For the 1991 model year, the Porsche 944 S2 with its high-torque 3-liter four-valve engine has been modified in several subtle ways. The 944 S2 Coupé acquires a new look for the 1991 model year on in the form of the rear spoiler already used on the 944 Turbo. Recalling the 959's styling, this spoiler improves aerodynamics still further at high speeds. It is mounted on the trunk lid (which can be conveniently released from the driver's seat) and swings up with it. The 944 Cabrio, which entered production in 1989 and proved exceptionally popular right from the start, remains unchanged. The following 944 versions will be offered for sale on the German market in the 1991 model year:

  • Porsche 944 S2 Coupé with 3-liter, 211 bhp four-valve engine
  • Porsche 944 S2 Cabrio with the same technical specification and equipment as the Coupé
  • Porsche 944 Turbo with 2.5-liter, 250 bhp two-valve turbocharged engine.

944 S2, 944 S2 Cabriolet and 944 Turbo have an antilock brake system (ABS) as standard equipment, This makes Porsche the first volume-production automobile manufacturer in the world to equip every model in its current program with ABS.
The combined central locking and theft protection system is also standard item on all 944 models. Automatic lap-and-diagonal a seat belts are provided for rear-seat passengers too; the interior light has a timer for delayed switch-off, lockable wheel studs are provided and the headlight beams are now adjustable from the driver's seat - a whole series of worthwhile new features on the 944 S2.

Available only as a limited edition and for a limited limited number of period: Porsche will be building a now and the the Porsche 944 Turbo Cabriolet between summer.
